Chappell wants team to focus on today's match Wednesday, September 20 2006 12:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kuala Lumpur:
Faced with an uphill task of winning both their matches to secure a place in the triseries final, Indian coach Greg Chappell today (20 Sep, 2006) sought to ease the pressure on his team by telling the players to focus only on encounter against the West Indies.
Chappell says it is important to put up a good performance and win the next match rather than worry about the second game at this stage.
"We don't have to think about winning the two consecutive matches, But we have to win the first one first," Chappell tells sources on the eve of the match to be played at the Kinrara Oval.
"We have to put together a good performance for the first one and then we will worry about the second. If we start looking too far ahead we will make mistakes," he says.
The shock Carribean victory over Australia in the last match has left India with no option than to win their remaining two league matches for a place in the final.
He says the West Indies is doing quite well. "That's good for them but we are more worried about we doing well."
