Sachin's ton goes vain as WI wins on D/L method
Friday, September 15 2006 12:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Kuala Lumpur: Sachin Tendulkar's sizzling unbeaten 141 on comeback goes in vain as the West Indies wins the rain-hit second cricket one-dayer of the DLF Cup series by 29 runs on Duckworth-Lewis method here yesterday (14 Sep, 2006).

Tendulkar seems to have put India in the box seat with his scintillating knock, propelling the team to 309 for five in the day-night encounter at the Kinrara Oval.

But the Windies run away with the victory after making 141 for two in 20 overs, which is more than the required par score of 112/2 at that stage, before showers disrupts the proceedings.

Ramnaresh Sarwan sustains opener Chris Gayle set up the chase with a 35-ball 45 and the momentum, 37 off 49 balls, and captain Brian Lara, 27 off 30 balls.

West Indies has lost the opening match of the series by 78 runs against Australia on Tuesday (12 Sep, 2006).

India takes on the three-time World Champions at the same venue on Saturday (16 Sep, 2006).
