Tarundeep, Dola to lead India at Hockey WC

Jamshedpur: Arjuna Awardees Tarundeep Rai and Dola Banerjee will lead India's campaign at the upcoming World Cup and Doha Asian Games.

Talented Jayanta Talukdar and Chekrovolu Swuro are also in the squad announced by the Archery Association of India on the concluding day of the three-day selection trial at JRD Tata sports complex here Monday (11 Sep, 2006).

While the senior men and women reserve team will take part in all the five events, the women compound team will vie for top honour in World Cup at Shanghai, Asian circuit in Myanmmar and Commonwealth championship, Joint Secretary AAI Sanjeeva Singh says.

The compound men's senior team will take part in Asian circuit and Commonwealth championship only.

The World Cup will begin at Shanghai from September 26, Asian Grand Prix in Myanmmar from November 1, Commonwealth Championship at Jamshedpur from November 8 and Asian Games from December 1.

The teams: Recurve men senior: Mangal Singh, Jayanta Talukdar, Tarundeep Rai, Viswas.

Recurve women senior: Chekrovolu Swuro, Dola Banerjee, Puny A Prabha and Reena Kumari.

Compound men senior: Paltan Hansda, Chungda Sherpa, Santosh Tamang and Abhisekh Verma.

Compound women senior: Jhanu Hansda, K H Bhagyabati Chanu, Manjudha Soy and Sweety Kumari.
