Camp shifted as fans intrude into ground Wednesday, September 6 2006 12:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Bangalore:
The ongoing camp for Indian cricket team here is disrupted Tuesday (5 Sep, 2006) when some fans watching the proceedings intrude into the ground and mob batting mastero Sachin Tendulkar, forcing the session to be shifted to an adjacent venue.
The incident occur after a barbed wire fence on the compound of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (B) ground on which a dozen people are leaning heavily comes down.
The fans crash into the footpath with their back to the ground after it collapse apparently because of overweight.
At least three persons receive injuries, including one in the head resulting in profuse bleeding, but it is not life threatening, police says.
The crash brings the training session, being guided by Coach Greg Chappell, to a standstill.
A few of the fans standing on the sidelines watching the nets take advantage of the commotion, enter the ground and mob Tendulkar and appear, from a distance, to have virtually forced the batting maestro to pose for cameras along with them.
Scores of others who are watching the practice session, involving skipper Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh, Dinesh Mongia, Ramesh Powar and V R V Singh, from trees, quietly climb down and take to their heels, fearing a crack-down on them.
