Saina Nehwal attains the highest ranking of 41

New Delhi: Saina Nehwal achieves her career best ranking of 41 following her commendable show in the twin tournaments of Korea Open and Hong Kong Open.

The 15-year-old from Hyderabad climbs 10 places in the latest International Badminton Federation rankings and maintains her spot as India's top women's shuttler.

Saina reached the prequarterfinal of the Korean Open where he lost to Soratja Chansrisukot of Thailand but avenged the defeat to the world no 33 in the first round of Hong Kong Open.

Saina dishes out a gritty performance before losing to world no 1 Zhang Ning of China in the next round. Ning holds the no 1 spot among the women's followed by Xu Huwaein of Germany.

After her sensational Philippines Open triumph Saina climbs a staggering 34 places to be placed at 55 before she attains reaches her previous best ranking of 42 on June 22.

Trupti Murgunde is the next Indian women at 80.

In the men's charts, Chetan Anand's unimpressive show at the Hong Kong Open where he loses in the second round sees him drop five places to 27.

National Champion Anup Sridhar also loses three rungs and is placed at 36 while Arvind Bhat keeps his position of 49 intact.

The biggest beneficiary is P Kashyap who clears 17 heads and enters into the top 100 to be placed 96.

The 20-year old from Hyderabad pull off a stunning upset against world no 19 Przemyslaw Wacha of Poland before succumbing to Olympic and World champion Taufiq Hidayat.
