Friday, September 1 2006 11:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

London: England women, after being asked to follow on, are on the path of recovery to save the second Test against India on the third day of the match at County Ground, Taunton.

Skipper Charlotte Edwards leads the fight back in the second innings with a useful unbeaten knock of 48 to takes the home team to 104 for 2 at tea.

With four sessions of play remaining, England still needs 104 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

After being bundled out only for 99, England loses two wickets for 34 in the second innings. But, Edwards leads from the front to revive some hope for the hosts.

Seamer Jhulan Goswami, who claims five wickets in the first innings, takes one wicket in the second essay.

Charlotte is the top-scorer for the home side in the first innings with a defiant 26 off 54 balls.

Amita Sharma and Rumeli Dhar scalp two English batters each while N Al Khader claims one as India asked England to follow on.

After posting a strong 307 in the first innings, the Indian women make the most of the seaming conditions as their new ball bowlers, Jhulan and Amita, reduce the home team to 6 for 46 at one stage.

However, Charlotte and Jane Smit (15) provide some respite to England by putting up 38 runs partnership for the seventh wicket.

The two-Test series is level 0-0 with the first Test having ends in a draw.
