Kapur returns to Asian Tour after five months Thursday, August 31 2006 10:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Johor Bahru:
Shiv Kapur makes his return to the Asian Tour at the Pulai Springs Malaysian Masters after gaining a summer of experience on the European Tour, besides his maiden appearance at a Major and the World Golf Championships.
The 24-year-old Kapur, who was Asian Tour's Rookie of the Year last season, flies in from Ohio, where he played the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and tees up at the US$300,000 tournament starting Thursday (31 Aug, 2006) followed by the USD 3 million Barclay's Singapore Open the following week.
Kapur is back to the Asian Tour after five months.
"I am tired after my return but I am going to put all that aside here. Last week was a great experience for me and I feel like my game's ready. I wasn't hitting so great yesterday but I feel much better now. I am really looking forward to this week and the next couple of weeks trying to get a win and get back in the winner's circle," says Kapur, who is one of the 14 Indians teeing up at the Pulai Springs Resort.
"Last week was awesome and I really enjoyed it. I learned a tremendous amount from it. It was a very heartening experience to see the way I stacked up against the stars at the World Golf Championships."
"What I've learnt is how to play on a tough golf course and how to manage your game. You've got to have a sharp short game and produce a good score no matter what. The players would go all out to avoid a dropped shot and that was what I learnt," the talented youngster says.
