Anjum Chopra hits a gritty 98 to help Indian eves score 307 in their first innings against England on the second day of the second and final Test match at Taunton county ground Wednesday (30 Aug, 2006).
Chopra carries on from the overnight score of 56 and stays firm even as wickets keep tumbling at the other end.
Chopra is however unfortunate to get out lbw off Isha Guha just two runs short of her century.
Resuming from their overbight score of 168 for 2, India squanders a good position and can add 139 runs while losing 8 wickets Wednesday (30 Aug, 2006).
Skipper Mithali Raj (65) can add just one run to her Tuesday's (29 Aug, 2006) score as she is caught behind off J L Gunn.
Chopra, who hits nine boundaries in her 295-ball stay, gets an able partner in Rumali Dhar, who scores 43 off 86 balls.
The pair out on a crucial 61-run stand for the fifth wicket. Dhar's innings is studded with seven boundaries.
Guha is the most successful bowler claiming 4 wickets for 61 runs. H Colvin and Gunn took two wickets each.
