Hughes tells Aussie duo to decide futures Friday, August 4 2006 16:03 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
London:
Blackburn manager Mark Hughes has warned Australian players Lucas Neill and Brett Emerton they have only two weeks to decide whether their futures lie with the English Premiership club.
Neill, 28, and 27-year-old Emerton, both of whom played significant parts in Australia's World Cup campaign this summer, have one year left on their respective contracts and are still considering new offers.
"We hope they will accept. It is my intention for them to stay but we will need an indication from both guys on what way they are thinking," Hughes was quoted as saying by sources.
"In the next couple of weeks I hope we will get that indication," he said.
Winger Emerton has been linked with fellow Premiership side, while Tottenham are reportedly interested in full-back Neill if they fail to sign Pascal Chimbond from Wigan.
Hughes said, "No-one from Middlesbrough has contacted me about Brett.
"There is always speculation when guys are going into the last year of their contracts," he said.
"That is the case with the two Australian guys but I am confident. We have offered them good deals and are hopeful they will accept," he said.
