Belgium Grand Prix set to return in 2007
Friday, July 21 2006 15:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

London: The Belgium Grand Prix looks set to make a welcome return to the Formula One calendar next season after financial difficulties forced its cancellation for this year.

F1 guru Bernie Ecclestone said he could not have done any more to help secure a place in the 2007 calendar.

The local authorities responsible for the Spa-Francorchamps circuit announced last week that they would be revamping the ageing facility with a multi-million dollar investment.

Despite being labelled the most boring fixture on the calendar, the French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours is also looking solid for its continued presence on the FIA calendar but at the expense of races in Germany and Italy.

Ecclestone said that either Hockenheim or the Nürburgring in Germany, Monza or Imola in Italy would loose their place.

He said, "That's what we're working on, probably only one in each country."
