Amelie Mauresmo's Wimbledon singles title, the first by a Frenchwoman in 81 years, enabled the 27-year-old to consolidate her position on top of the WTA rankings released Monday.
Mauresmo beat Belgium's Justine Henin-Hardenne 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday for her second Grand Slam title, having claimed the Australian Open crown in January. Mauresmo's margin over number two Kim Clijsters of Belgium improved from 147 points to 314, with Henin-Hardenne remaining third.
