Italians and French rule squad of tournament Saturday, July 8 2006 15:04 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Berlin:
FIFA on Friday announced the list of 23 players for the squad of the tournament.
The list will be reduced to the best 11 by FIFA after the final on Sunday between France and Italy.
Italy contribute seven players to the squad, while France have four, including Zinedine Zidane, who has said the final will be the last match of his professional career.
Reigning champions Brazil, who were knocked out by France in the quarter-finals, have just one player, the hard-working Ze Roberto, while four Germans were selected, but not the man named as the best young player of the tournament, Lukas Podolski.
England's only representative is centre-back John Terry.
