Larsson pleased after blocking England
Wednesday, June 21 2006 15:18 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Cologne: Swedish footballer Henrik Larsson declared himself very happy that his late goal in his side's 2-2 draw Tuesday against England helped extend Sweden's 38-year unbeaten run against them.

Joe Cole put England in front in the Group B match in Cologne with a wonder strike on 34 minutes, and Steven Gerrard headed an 85th-minute lead after Marcus Allback had equalised for Sweden in the 51st minute.

But just as it looked like England could finally break their Viking curse, up popped Larsson to bundle the ball home in the final minute of regular time.

"I think it's important to keep that record going. It was very satisfying. I think it's very important for the Swedish people and the Swedish players," he said.

"It's a good team, a quality side with a lot of class players. It's always nice to play against a team like that," he said.
