Pettersson leads heading into final round Monday, June 5 2006 16:46 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Dublin:
Sweden's Carl Pettersson held a two-shot lead when the third round of the weather-disrupted Memorial Tournament was completed on Sunday.
Pettersson played his final three holes at even par to complete a 3-under-par 69, giving himself an 11-under total of 205 heading into Sunday's final round.
Pettersson was clinging to a one-shot lead over Woody Austin and Zach Johnson when play was halted for the day on Saturday, but Austin bogeyed the 18th hole to slip to 9-under and Johnson bogeyed his final two holes to drop to 8-under.
Austin finished with a 67 and Johnson a 70 in the third round.
Masters champion Phil Mickelson parred his final hole to complete a 70 to lie in fourth place on 209.
Australian Adam Scott took a double-bogey six at the 17th and slipped to five adrift.
Pettersson, who is based in North Carolina, made his PGA Tour breakthrough with a victory in Tampa, Florida, last October, but this would be a much bigger feather in his cap.
The field includes most of the world's top players, with the notable exception of Tiger Woods.
