Wenger will coach his first Champions League
Wednesday, May 17 2006 14:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

London: Arsene Wenger, who will coach in his first Champions League final in Paris on Wednesday, has said he would prefer to stay with Arsenal until the end of his managerial career.

The 56-year-old Frenchman was mentioned early in the running for the England job even though he has two years to go on his contract with the Gunners.

But Wenger not only intends to see out that agreement but has insisted he has no desire to move elsewhere afterwards and would like to stay on at the newly-built Emirates Stadium. "And do I see myself finishing my coaching career in charge of Arsenal? Yes," Wenger told The Sun," he said. "I must admit that I've no ambition to be the coach of an international team," he said.

"In fact it's the opposite. At a club like this you have the cream of the world's football talent to spot, sign and develop and what could be more challenging than that?" he said. Wenger took over at Arsenal in 1996 and is already one of the longest-serving managers in the Premiership.
