Sorenstam misses cut for first time since '02
Saturday, May 13 2006 11:14 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Williamsburg: Annika Sorenstam's struggles continued on Friday as the Swedish superstar saw her streak of 68 LPGA cuts made snapped at the Michelob Ultra Open.illiamsburg.

Sorenstam carded her second straight 73 in the second round, and will be sitting out the weekend for the first time since the 2002 women's British Open. "It's mostly disappointing," she said.

"I feel like I'm playing well. I've practiced all week and just this year is not really going anyway at all," he said.

Australian Karrie Webb was the halfway leader with an eight-under total of 134. Webb was one shot in front of Cristie Kerr, and both she and Kerr played alongside Sorenstam on Thursday and Friday.

"I've played with her a lot over the years, and I haven't seen her like this in a while," Kerr said of the world No. 1, whose only win this year came in her season debut in Mexico in March," he said.

"Everybody goes through this period of golf in the

ir career, and she's certainly been on the top of the leaderboard for a very long time. "It just seems like this year, even though she did win in Mexico, it seems like she's been struggling more than in other years," Kerr said.

Although Sorenstam birdied two of her first three holes, and picked up another shot at the 12th, her card included five bogeys.

She said she couldn't point to any particular problem in her game.

"I think i'm just playing the way I normally do, it's just not turning out," she said.

"Today I hit 13 greens, yesterday 14 greens. There's no reason why I can't make any more birdies. It seems like there were birdies out there because the people in my group made them. I just have to keep on working and keep on grinding and stay positive."

Sorenstam said she hadn't been focused on how long it had been since she missed a cut.

"It's just not something I keep track of," she said.

"I like to keep track of wins," he said.
