Fed Cup Asia-Oceania qualifying Day 1 washed out

New Delhi: The opening day's play of the Fed Cup Asia-Oceania zonal qualifying tennis tie in Seoul, Korea, today (Apr 19, 2006) was washed out without a ball being hit due to rains.

India were to take on Philippines in their first match in Pool 'B' with Shikha Uberoi scheduled to play the first singles and Sania Mirza the second match.

Chinese Taipei and New Zealand are the other teams in Pool 'B' while hosts Korea, Australia and Uzbekistan form Pool 'A'.

The best team from each pool play in the final, the winner of which qualify for the World Group 2 play-off in July this year.
